Artist biography
Tauris Reose is from a small town in Estonia. He is a metal artist and maker who completed his Bachelor’s degree in Jewellery and Blacksmithing at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2021; highlighted by exchange studies at Steneby HDK Valand in Sweden in 2019. In his work, he balances overthinking about life and art to find a spoken relationship between the viewer and the artist.
Artist Statement
I have been thinking a lot about how others see me. Why do I see reflection of myself in the mirror, is it not unfair? Why do I see myself differently? I want to see myself, feel about myself as they do. Perhaps I should re-position my head, behave differently, or love myself differently. The birthmark here is actually there. Or it is better, preferred if there are two reflections: one as I am and one as I am seen? If I start to love my reflection from the mirror, then is it reflected love? And if it is reflected love, am I able to love an other as well because of this reflection?
